WASHINGTON – The Atlantic 10 Conference announced Thursday that a record 4,155 student-athletes received Commissioner’s Honor Roll distinction for 2023-24 academic year. This is the highest total in league history and is the fifth year in a row the total number of honorees has topped 3,500.

The total surpasses the record set in 2023-24 of 3,953 honorees. This year there were a record 413 student-athletes that achieved a 4.0 GPA, representing 10 percent of the total number of honorees. Additionally, 65 percent of the honorees, equalling 2,700 student-athletes, recorded a 3.5 GPA or better for the academic year. The league also set a record with an average 277 honorees per school.

“Year after year, our student-athletes perform at the highest levels, setting records for Commissioner’s Honor Roll in total honorees, topping 4,000 for the first time in league history,” stated A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade. “A commitment to high academics is a hallmark of the Atlantic 10 Conference, and I commend each of our honorees and our member institutions for prioritizing the educational experience and academic success.”

Designed to recognize excellence in the classroom, a student-athlete in an Atlantic 10-sponsored sport at a full member institution must have a combined fall and spring semester grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the academic year to be selected for the Commissioner’s Honor Roll. Both freshmen and graduate students are eligible to receive the award. In each of the last seven years, the league honored over 3,000 student-athletes per year.

Massachusetts had the most honorees with 370, followed by Fordham with 342. George Mason was third with 327 student-athletes honored, and Davidson (319) and Saint Joseph’s (315) finished out the top five. The class is made up of 18.4 percent (766 total honorees) first year students, 22.8 percent (949 total) sophomores, 21.8 percent (908 total) juniors and 27.41percent (1,130 total) seniors. There were 389 graduate students honored, comprising 9.3 percent of the class.

The top three women’s sports were women’s cross country/track & field with 519 honorees, women’s soccer (383 honorees) and women’s lacrosse (306 honorees). The top three men’s sports were men’s cross county/track & field (398 honorees), baseball (360 honorees) and men’s soccer (303 honorees).
