Welcome to News of Davidson
Welcome to News of Davidson!
We are a nonprofit source of news and information about the people, places, images, and events that make this town beloved by its 12,000 residents. A longtime Davidsonian heard about our efforts to launch this online news site, and encouraged us with the response, “Good. A great town needs a great newspaper.”
There’s no question that Davidson is a great town, and it has a long and proud heritage of local newspapers that dates back to 1883. However, the last effort closed a little over two years ago and many people have voiced their regret over that loss. The creator and editor, David Boraks, of that online presence set a standard of excellence for anyone who follows. So, we are trying our hand at a new iteration.
One of our columns is called “Random Acts of Kindness.” We hope that our readers will submit articles of about 500 words in length that describe such events in their lives. This a column just for you. Send your columns to [email protected].
There is a community calendar, to which nonprofits and organizations offering arts and entertainment can submit their events, free of charge.
We’re game and hope you are, too, because you can help our effort. Please send us suggestions for improving the site. LIke all good websites, News of Davidson will continue to evolve. Please help us by telling your friends about us. Send us news tips and let us know about photo opportunities. Send us photos you’ve taken and would like to share that reflect Davidson life [email protected]. Sign on as a regular columnist. You’ll find us at [email protected] and 704 456-5678.
And, of course, we welcome your financial support. Because we are a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, your contributions to News of Davidson are tax deductible. We have already received Founding Donor contributions from some local businesses, nonprofits, and individuals. The Founding Donor campaign will continue until the end of the calendar year. Businesses can be founders with a $200 donation, and $100 will earn that designation for an individual or nonprofit organization.
We hope you enjoy the site we’ve established thus far, and we thank the over twenty correspondents who have already signed on to regularly publish their views of our favorite town in the world – Davidson!
