Police Request Information Regarding Felony Larceny Arrest

by | Sep 29, 2017 | News

Davidson police officers and detectives apprehended a repeat offender for breaking and entering and felony larceny. Rodney Christopher Thomas, of Davidson, was arrested after breaking into the Davidson College Presbyterian Church (DCPC) on Concord Road between September 24 and 25. Video surveillance footage from the church shows the suspect entering the church and removing property.

Thomas was released from prison recently after serving three years for prior crimes committed in Davidson. Detectives are investigating the crime and hope to recover the stolen property.

“The initial responding officers and detectives did excellent work in making this possible,” said Police Chief Dunn. “As the investigation continues, we ask the public to come forward if they have any information that can aid investigators. Please contact Detective Jay Stokes at 704-940-9633.”

The Town of Davidson approved the purchase of cameras and license plate readers earlier this year. The work to install power, connectivity, and equipment is in progress. “In the event of a crime, camera footage and license plate information will prove useful in investigations,” said Dunn.
