Ada Jenkins Center First Annual Mac N' Cheese Event

Sold out crowd for the 1st Annual Ada Jenkins Mac N’ Cheese Event.

Davidson, NC (October 12, 2017) – On October 7, the Ada Jenkins Center held its first annual Mac n’ Cheese Cook-Off Event, a cheesy twist on the Chili Cook-Off that had been the Center’s annual fundraiser.

The Ada Jenkins Center gymnasium was transformed into a family-friendly dining area with seating for the 300+ eager taste-testers of all ages.  Mac n’ cheese lovers tried each of the many types of mac n’ cheese offered by the ten competitors: Armin’s Catering, Brickhouse, Flatiron, Fork!, Harp & Crown, On the Nines, Pickled Peach, Ramen Soul, Sam Weaver and Famous Toastery.   The event raised over $10,000, which will help the Center continue to meet the ever-growing demand for health, education and human services in the Lake Norman community.

The winners in each category were as follows:

  • Overall People’s Choice: On the Nines
  • Kid’s Choice: Harp & Crown, Brisket Mac N’ Cheese
  • Cheesiest: On the Nines, Smoked Mac N’Cheese
  • Ultimate Seafood: Flatiron, Seafood Mac N’ Cheese
  • Meatiest: Ramen Soul, Ramen Noodle Mac & Cheese with Tataki Beef

Ticket sales for the inaugural event exceeded expectations, with tickets selling out days in advance. The Lake Norman business community also responded positively in support of the event; sponsors included Blue Heel Communities, Puma & Associates Realty, Dobi Financial Group, LLC, Church Watson Law and Copeland Richards, PLLC.

The mission of the Ada Jenkins Center, a nonprofit organization, is to empower the people of our communities to break the cycle of poverty through the integration of health, education, and human services.
