The Hub @ Davidson served as the venue for one of the On The Table Charlotte small group discussions.

On Wednesday, October 25, more than 5,000 people across Mecklenburg County gathered in small groups for the first On the Table Charlotte event. One of those small groups met in Davidson. More than 65 people gathered at one of the newest places in town – The Hub.

On The Table CLT is a community-wide civic engagement initiative that seeks to bring diverse voices to the table to discuss issues facing our community. Davidson College will serve as a super host for one of the discussions.

About The Hub

Davidson College bought the Bridgeport Fabrics building, next to the Brickhouse restaurant, three years ago and re-fitted it toward “warm shell” status with a new facade, roof, windows and HVAC systems. The abandoned textile mill has been transformed into an entrepreneurship and innovation launching pad for the Lake Norman region. The initial phase of the project included the build-out of  6,000 square feet. This first-of-its-kind center that is designed to connect campus with community and to promote innovation and help accelerate the regional economy. Five more spaces are planned to follow as funding “ventures” forth. The mill once spooled out garden-chair webbing and automobile window liners for mid-century America.
