Davidson College Chorale Spring Concert

April 6 @ 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm

Davidson College Presbyterian Church

Davidson’s premier student choral ensemble performs their annual spring concert in the Davidson College Presbyterian Church. Join the Chorale, including the Davidson Singers, Collegium Musicum, and After Hours Vocal Jazz, as they present their beautiful and varied a cappella and accompanied choral repertoire. Free and open to the public.

Davidson Baseball vs George Mason

April 6 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Wilson Field

The Wildcats host George Mason for a 3-game weekend series at Wilson Field. All games are free and open to the public. The concession stand is open from the 1st-7th innings and proceeds benefit the Davidson Field Hockey and Volleyball teams.

Dance Ensemble Spring Showcase

April 6 @ 8:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Duke Family Performance Hall

The Davidson College Dance Ensemble provides a platform for students to create in an unrestricted and professional dance environment. The end-of-semester Spring Showcase, will consist of at least eleven student-choreographed dance groups, including the established dance groups on campus: Gamut, Shades of Brown, and Davidson Bhangra. The Showcase will exhibit various styles, including modern, hip hop, urban dance, bachata, step, and bhangra. Tickets go on sale two weeks prior to the Showcase. All audiences are welcome to attend.

Davidson Farmers’ Market

The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market.

The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.

 

Davidson Golf @ Irish Creek

April 7 @ 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

The Club at Irish Creek – Kannapolis

Davidson and its cross-county rival UNCC will host the 2018 Cabarrus County Irish Creek Intercollegiate, April 7-8, at The Club at Irish Creek.  The two-day 54-hole event will begin with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Saturday morning on the Par 71, 7,099-yard layout. Following 36 holes on the opening day, Sunday’s final round will also tee off at 8:30 a.m. In addition to the co-hosts, the 15-team field will feature Akron, Clemson, Dartmouth, Dayton, Georgia Tech, Indiana, James Madison, Kansas, Middle Tennessee State, UNCG, North Florida, West Virginia and VCU.

Four of the participating teams are ranked in the Top-35, while six competitors sit inside the Top-100 individually.

Walk With A Doc

Walk With A Doc is a national program to encourage healthy regular physical activity in people of all ages, to help reverse the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle in order to improve the health and well-being of those who would participate. Walking for as little as 30 minutes a day can have enormous health benefits. Walking was recently recognized by the Surgeon General of the United States as one of the single most important things we can do for our health. Will you join us in making health and happiness accessible to all? Bring the whole family and the dog but just come and join your fellow citizens in improving the health of our community.

Play in Peace Festival

The Play in Peace Festival will be jam packed with excitement from interactive play for kids of all ages, hands-on activities, a live DJ, fun entertainers and so much more. Play in Peace promotes laughter and learning through mindful and interactive play exercises encouraging teamwork, cooperation, and emotion regulation. We empower Tomorrow’s Leaders Today Through Mindfulness. This event is free and open to the community with lots of games and adventures for kids.

Nature Hike

Parks & Recreation Department

The Park and Rec Department of the Town of Davidson, In partnership with the Davidson Lands Conservancy, are offering a variety of hikes this spring, led by expert naturalists. This is a great opportunity to visit protected land in and around the Town of Davidson and to learn more about your local greenways, parks, and nature preserves. April’s hike will be in the Rocky River Nature Preserve and meeting place will be given to those who register.
