The River Run Country Club will host the women’s Symetra Tour in May. A local high school golfer will be in the field.

Cannon School freshman Amanda Sambach will play on a sponsor exemption

Davidson, NC  – Amanda Sambach – an accomplished junior golfer and ninth grader at the Cannon School – has accepted an exemption to play in the 2018 Symetra Classic, tournament organizers announced today. The exemption will allow Amanda – an amateur – to play in her first professional event.

“We are excited that Amanda will make her first appearance in a professional event in her hometown of Davidson,” said tournament director Jon Show. “The spirit of the Symetra Tour is to provide playing opportunities for the future stars of the game, and we hope this experience greatly benefits Amanda as she prepares for the next level of competition.”

Amanda, 15, has already committed to playing college golf for the University of Virginia. She is the top ranked North Carolina high school girls golfer in her graduation class and the fourth ranked player overall in the state. She has won nearly half of the events she’s entered in the last year.

The 2018 Symetra Classic will be contested May 14-19 at River Run Country Club in Davidson. Visit www.symetraclassic.com for more information.
