Davidson Closes Home Slate With 4-2 Win vs. UNCG
DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Davidson women’s tennis team closed out their final regular season home match with a solid 4-2 victory over UNCG at the Davidson Tennis Courts.
The Wildcats moved to 14-3 overall on the year and finished their home schedule this season with an impressive 11-1 record. They have gone 28-3 combined the past three years on their home courts.
UNCG (3-16) went up 1-0 by grabbing the doubles point after wins at No. 2 and 3 in close matches of 7-5 and 6-4. The duo of Megan Scholvinck and Anna Catharine Feaster remained perfect together at 7-0 after a 6-1 win at No. 1.
Davidson regrouped in singles play by capturing wins at No. 1, 4, 5 and 6 to take home the team victory. Feaster sealed up her eighth win of the season at No. 1 with a back-and-forth 7-5, 7-5 win.
Centenari won her personal-best 11th consecutive match at No. 4 by overcoming being a set down to win a three-setter, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. She is 13-2 on the season, a career best, and has a 10-1 mark at No. 4.
The final two team points came from Song and Todd. The freshman Song won her 12th match in 13 overall after a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 5, while Todd took home her sixth straight win with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6. The senior is 12-2 on the season.
Davidson wraps up the regular season with Atlantic 10 matches this weekend, April 13-15, at George Washington and George Mason.
