Citizens Asked to Join in Placing Flags on Graves of Veterans

by | May 18, 2022 | Local, News, Top Middle Box

Volunteers are asked to meet at Mimosa Cemetery – they will subsequently travel to the Christian Aid Society Cemetery and the College Cemetery to place flags on the graves of Veterans.

With Memorial Day fast-approaching, let’s join with neighbors and friends to place flags on the graves of Davidson’s Veterans.

Harold Brandon, Korean War Veteran, is buried at the Christian Aid Society Cemetery

Calling all interested citizens to meet at Mimosa Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22 – one week before Memorial Day. We will then proceed to the Christian Aid Society and Davidson College sites.

Jim Fuller, former Town Board Commissioner, wrote, “Memorial Day and Veterans Day are celebrations and remembrances that are so very important to our town, our country, and our souls. I believe we chart our best pathway through today on our way to a better tomorrow by reflecting on what is meaningful in our past—and those who have helped secure this fragile experiment called democracy. Special thanks to Leslie Willis for the work of the Davidson Parks and Rec Department to help make this a successful event.”

This is an honored community tradition to remember and respect Veterans. PLEASE PASS THE WORD TO VETERANS AND NEIGHBORS. All, especially families and youth, are welcome so that our town’s young people learn this important history!
