“All About Bluebirds” To Be held on Saturday, June 16

by | Jun 1, 2018 | News

World of Wonder (WOW), in conjunction with the Davidson Lands Conservancy and Woodland Discovery, is offering a family event for parents and their children under the age of five. “All About Bluebirds” will be held on Saturday, June 16, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.

Mark Stanback, Davidson College biology professor, will identify Eastern Bluebirds and take a close look at their nesting boxes. You might have an opportunity to hold baby bluebirds in your hands! (Don’t worry. They’ll be okay.) Get tips on how to attract them and other cavity-nesting birds to your yard. Bring your binoculars and bird books. Check out WOW’s Backyard Birds book at Main Street Bookstore, a guide to which Dr. Stanback was an important contributor.

The location and other details will be sent to those who pre-register, which is required. .

To begin the registration process, please send an email to [email protected] with the names of all the participants (parents and children), ages of the children, any allergies, and a cellphone number. Be sure you get a confirmation of registration email that includes medical and photo waiver instructions. Be sure that you receive an email confirming your registration.

Registration is not available on the Davidson Lands Conservancy website.

PLEASE NOTE: Registration closes at 5 p.m., Friday, June 15.

If you’d like to know more about WOW’s other free nature programs, or you’d be interested in leading a nature outing, email Erin Burke at [email protected].

You can also visit the Woodland Discovery and Davidson Lands Conservancy websites.
