Davidson Community Players Present “Spamalot”

June 22 @ 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Duke Family Performance Hall – Davidson College

Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is an irreverent parody of the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, featuring a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. A huge hit on Broadway, Spamalot won the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical.

(Recommended for ages 12 and up.)

Davidson Farmers’ Market

The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market. The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.

World of Wonder Hosting Free Nature Event

Carolina Thread Trail

WOW – WORLD OF WONDER, a nature discovery program for children and their families, is hosting a free nature outing, co-sponsored by Davidson Lands Conservancy and Woodland Discovery. The exploration of the West Branch Nature Preserve Trail will be held on Saturday, June 23, from 10:30 a.m. to noon at the Carolina Thread Trail (CTT) in Davidson. Sena McCrory, CTT Program Coordinator, will lead an easy, 1.5 mile hike into this 90-acre preserved wetland habitat to look for birds, reptiles, plants, trees, and more – all of which make this part of Davidson so special. This outing is for children with their families. The minimum age is 5 years old. Location and other details will be sent to those who pre-register.

Pre-registration is required. To begin the registration process, please send an email to [email protected] with the names of all the participants (parents and children), ages of the children, any allergies and a cellphone number. Do not send registration requests to Carolina Thread Trail. Be sure you get a confirmation of registration email that includes medical and photo waiver instructions. Be sure that you receive an email confirming your registration.

Concert on the Green – The Moondance Orchestra

June 24 @ 6- 8:00 p.m.

Davidson Town Green

The Moondance Orchestra performs a mix of popular favorites, from smooth Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé ballads to high-energy arrangements of Chicago and Blood Sweat & Tears. Vocalist Lonnie Carpenter is backed by a 10-piece ensemble of some of the area’s finest musicians. Concerts on the Green are a summer family favorite!  Concerts take place from to 6:00-8:00 p.m. on the town green in front of the Davidson Public Library, at the intersection of Main Street and Concord Road. Attendees are encouraged to bring friends and family, comfy chairs or a blanket, a picnic, and to come early to find seats.  Make it a date night in Davidson: Visit some of our local restaurants and shops, stroll over to the town green to enjoy some great music, take a pedicab ride around town, and enjoy dessert or a beverage. Concerts are free, open to the public, and are fun for all ages!

Family Story Time

June 25 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am (Second session from 11:00 a.m. – 12: 00 p.m.)

Davidson Branch Library – 119 S. Main Street

Bring your family (aged birth to 5) out to enjoy stories, songs, and movement activities that support early literacy skill development and help foster a love of books and reading in your child.  For families, toddlers, preschoolers. Registration opens 30 minutes prior to story time, please check in at the desk.

 

Families Belong Together Prayer Vigil

June 25 @ 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Lingle Chapel – Corner of Main St. and Concord Road

An interfaith prayer vigil will be held in Lingle Chapel at Davidson College Presbyterian Church Monday, June 25 at 7:00 p.m. on behalf of the thousands of children who have been separated from their parents at the U.S. southern border. Local clergy will provide prayers from their faith traditions. Information will be shared about what is driving the migrant crisis and how to offer practical help to these children and their families.
