Programs for Children and Teens:

Family Story Time
Mondays, July 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 10 a.m. & again at 11 a.m.

Bring your family (aged birth to 5) out to enjoy stories, songs, and movement activities that support early literacy skill development and help foster a love of books and reading in your child. Families, toddlers, preschoolers. Registration opens 30 minutes prior to story time> Please check in at the desk.

Paws to Read

Tuesdays, July 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 11 a.m.

Children boost reading skills and confidence by reading aloud to a volunteer therapy dog. For school aged children and families.

Baby Story Time

Thursdays, July 12, 19 and 26 at 9:30 a.m.

Babies experience brain stimulation through language and socialization. Engage your little one with new sights and sounds through books, songs, and rhymes. For ages 0-17 mos. Registration opens 30 minutes prior.

Listen & Move : Preschool Story Time

Thursday, July 19 at 11 am.

Children and parents will participate in stories, songs and activities that build both gross and fine motor skills, which children need to develop in order to read and write. For ages 3-5

Creating with Books: Preschool Story Time

Thursday, July 12 at 11 a.m.

Listen to stories and extend learning through a variety of hands-on activities. For preschool ages 3-5. Registration is required. Please call (704)416-4000 to register.

Must call (704)416-4000 to register. Join us for our summer break program, presented by Frontline Puppeteers. This is a 45-minute puppet show based on children’s picture books. Registration is required. For school aged children 5-11 yrs .

Bach to Rock

Thursday, July 26 at 10:30 a.m.

Enjoy a musically-inspired story time featuring musical- and movement-based activities and exposure to live instruments. The facilitator is a music educator from Bach To Rock. For school aged children 5-11 yrs. Registration is required and will begin 30 minutes prior.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library Presents: The Nature Lady and Incredible Insects

Satellite Studio Session

Tuesday, July 10, 17, 24 and 31, 2-4 p.m.

Learn how to create digital media and produce audio and video content, while gaining experience with new technologies and devices. For ages 10-18.

Fourth Annual Monopoly Tournament for Teens

Wednesday July 11, 2 p.m.

For ages 10 and up. Participate in a board game that encourages cooperation, problem solving, letter and word recognition, and critical thinking skills.

3D Printing Camp

Part 1 – Monday, July 16, 1-3 p.m.

Part 2 – Monday, July 23, 1-3 p.m.

Are you interested in 3-D printing? Register for this 2 part camp which includes: 3D Printing Sessions: Week 1: • Introduction to what is 3D Printing and Designing 3D Bridge Pieces using 123D Design.• Build 3D Bridge and weight testing/competition. Week 2: • Learning how to use TinkerCad and using it to create new world layout. • New world assembly activity and application of 3D Technology.

Walk-in One-on-One Technology Assistance

Wednesdays, July 11, 18, and 25 from 10-11:30 a.m.

Work with a library staff member to boost your technology skills. Topics could include digital devices, computer or internet basics, downloading digital materials or Microsoft Office. Walk-ins welcome. For adults.

Knit, Chat and Read Community Group

Thursday, July 12, 1-3 p.m.

Thursday, July 26, 6-7:45 p.m.

Join us at the library to make new friends and share conversation while improving your knitting skills, getting help on a project, and creating handmade items for charities or personal use. A library resource on knitting will be featured every month.

Technology Tutoring with Richard

Thursday, July 12th, four sessions from 1:30-3:00 p.m.

Strange New Worlds Book Club

Monday July 16, 7 p.m.

We meet the third Monday every month and discuss science fiction, fantasy and graphic novels selected by the group. This month our selection is Weave a Circle Round by Kari Maaren. All adults welcome.

Small Business Concierge

Saturday, July 21 from 10-11:30 a.m.

A small business expert with Mecklenburg County will be available to help you get information on almost every aspect or running or starting a small business, on a one-on-one, walk-in basis–for free! For adults.

History and Historical Fiction Book Club

Wednesday, July 25, 12-1 p.m.

Join us on the 4th Wednesday of each month at noon. In July we will be discussing our favorite reads and will choose books for the fall. Snacks and drinks provided. New members welcome!
