Florence Update: Sunday, September 16, 2018

Detective Jay Stokes, Davidson Police Department, provided information about the areas of Davidson most prone to flooding:

CMS schools will remain closed on Monday, September 17 for all students and staff. Also, all CMS athletic practices, games, events, extracurricular activities, and field trips are cancelled through September 17, as is any community use of the facilities. CMS officials will announce make-up days at a later date

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning through 6:45 p.m. for Mecklenburg County. The Town of Davidson Emergency Operations Center continues to operate, plan, and respond to calls. The public works department has already cleared a major tree from the corner of Woodland and Spring Streets so traffic is moving freely.

Part-time Davidson Fire Fighters Deputy Chief Ryan Monteith, Captain Stephen Pritchard, and Deputy Chief Joel Cherry, all full time fire fighters for the Charlotte Fire Department, were deployed to the east coast for swift water rescue.
