Access 2 Success Hosts Soulful Supper at Langtree Plantation

by | Sep 17, 2018 | Access 2 Success, Arts & Entertainment

Access to Success, an international non-profit founded by former Davidson College men’s basketball player Andrew Lovedale, will host its signature annual fundraiser, Soulful Supper, on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Langtree Plantation in Mooresville.

At the chefs event, guests will enjoy dishes provided by Joe Kindred of Kindred Restaurant (Davidson, N.C.), Justin Burke-Samson of Hello Sailor (Cornelius, N.C.), Zack Renner of Rooster’s (Charlotte, N.C.), as well as Troy Gagliardo, while sipping drinks from Free Range Brewing, 26 Acres, and NC Wine Guys. Guests bid on silent auction items, visit with A2S scholarship kids, and explore interactive stations that will bring A2S programs to life.

Chef Joe Kindred is the head chef of critically-acclaimed Kindred Restaurant on Davidson’s Main Street and is participating for the second year in a row. With his wife Katy, he has taken his travels and experience in fine dining to create his own unique perspective on contemporary cuisine of the new South. Chef Justin Burke-Samson is the self-taught pastry chef of both Kindred and Hello, Sailor. Hello, Sailor was listed among the “18 Best New Restaurants in America” by Eater.com in July of 2018. Chef Zack Renner is the head chef of Rooster’s, a restaurant in Uptown Charlotte that offers a chef-driven, seasonally-inspired menu featuring ingredients from local farmers. Chef Troy Gagliardo is a self-taught chef, author, and TV personality, weekly host of “Troy’s Everyday Eats” on WCCB Charlotte/CW morning show News Rising. Gagliardo’s culinary ventures include crafting a cookbook titled “Pseudo Southern.”

Founded in 2010, A2S provides sustainable educational and spiritual programs that generate positive change – mainly an After-School Academy, feeding program, annual free basketball and empowerment camp, and various community outreach programs throughout the year, for Nigerian children and their communities. The vision of A2S is that each child in Nigeria finds a dignified path to a successful life and is empowered to live out God’s plan for a future filled with hope. A2S provides holistic ministry to create long-term, sustainable growth.

All proceeds from this year’s event go to support A2S programming, equipping, and funding the operations of our After-School Academy in Benin City, Nigeria. A portion of each ticket purchase is tax deductible. A standard ticket to Soulful Supper includes a chefs dinner, which features hands-on experience with A2S programming, as well as silent and live auctions.
