“Queen of Summer” Author, Elin Hilderbrand, to Visit Main Street Books
Main Street Books is pleased to welcome New York Times bestselling author Elin Hilderbrand to the store on Wednesday, October 10th at 7 p.m. for a reading, discussion, and signing of her soon-to-be-released novel, Welcome to Paradise. Tickets for this event cost $30 and include a hardcover copy of Welcome to Paradise, entry to the event, and light finger food.
Elin Hilderbrand, a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and the revered Iowa Writers Workshop, is widely regarded as the “Queen of Summer,” due to how well she has honed her ability to tell the perfect summer tale, bound and printed for sunny days at the beach or lake.
This October, Hilderbrand, who typically publishes a book every summer, breaks from tradition to launch a new series – The Paradise – set in wintertime on the white beaches of St. John Island. Welcome to Paradise, the first book in the Paradise series, has everything that readers have come to know and love about an Elin Hilderbrand novel, plus a healthy dose of intrigue.
Irene Steele’s idyllic life – house, husband, family – is shattered when she is woken up by a late-night phone call. Her beloved husband has been found dead, but before Irene can process this tragic news, she must confront the perplexing details of her husband’s death.
He was found on St. John island, a tropical paradise far removed from their suburban life. Leaving the cold winter behind, Irene flies down to the beautiful Caribbean beaches of St. John only to make another shocking discovery: her husband had a secret second family. As Irene investigates the mysterious circumstances of her husband’s death, she is plunged into a web of intrigue and deceit belied by the pristine white sand beaches of St. John’s.
Other books by Elin Hilderbrand include The Castaways, The Island, Barefoot, Summerland, and The Matchmaker. Hilderbrand grew up spending summers on Cape Cod and has spent the last quarter century living in Nantucket.
