Lang Finishes Runner-Up; Wildcat Golf Places Third at River Run Collegiate Tournament

Senior Jack Lang finished second at the River Run Collegiate tournament.

 

DAVIDSON, N.C. – Senior Jack Lang (-7) recorded another Top-5 showing, finishing runner-up, to lead the Davidson golf team to a third-place finish at the 2018 River Run Collegiate Tuesday.

The 54-hole event was played on the Par 72, 7,317-yard River Run Country Club layout.

Freshman Viraj Garewal had an impressive finish – tied for 10th in the tournament.

In addition to the host Wildcats, the 13-team field featured Charlotte, Elon, Francis Marion, Furman, Gardner-Webb, James Madison, Marshall, Radford, Richmond, Temple, William & Mary and Wofford.

Coming off 15 birdies on day one, Lang (67-70-72 | 209) made the turn in 35 before shooting 37 on his inward nine.

Through two events/five rounds this season, Lang has a 69.20 stroke average and a pair of Top-3 finishes. In all, the 2017 Atlantic 10 Champion has eight career Top-5 showings.

As a team, the Wildcats (867 | +3) posted a final round 289 to finish four behind champion James Madison (-1) and three back of Furman (E).

Senior Hoke Carlton

The Paladins’ Keller Harper (207 | -9) claimed individual medalist by two shots over Lang.

Freshman Viraj Garewal (71-72-73 | E) continued his impressive play finishing tied for 10th at 216. Hoke Carlton (224 | T-28), Alex Ross (227 | T-38) and Clayton Tribus (234 | T-60) were also in the starting lineup for Davidson.

Will Simmons backed his solid opening day with a 79 to card his lowest career 54-hole total of 225 to lead the Wildcat individual competitors.

Davidson will enjoy a two-week break before traveling to Clarksburg, W.Va., for the 2018 Health Mountaineer Invitational hosted by West Virginia.
