Davidson Community Players Hold Open Auditions for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever”
Davidson Community Players announces its open auditions for their 2018 Main Stage holiday production, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, written by Barbara Robinson and directed by Matt Webster. The show was adapted from the best-selling children’s book by the same name. Auditions will be held Sunday, October 7 from 5-8 p.m. and Monday, October 8 from 7-10 p.m. Actors only need to attend one evening of auditions. Both auditions will take place at the DCP Actor’s Lab, 20700 N. Main Street, Suite 112, Cornelius.
The production will run November 29-December 16 at the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson.
Davidson Community Players is seeking a variety of youth and adult actors for the production. The Sunday, October 7 audition will be geared more towards auditioning the youth actors, although adults are also welcome to audition that night. Monday, October 8 will be open for both youth and adult actors. Actors of all skill levels and ethnicities are encouraged to audition.
The show will include a cast of 26 actors with opportunities for extras, including nine adults and 17 children. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Actors are asked to bring a headshot and a list of schedule conflicts. Copies of the script (with a $10 deposit) will be available at the DCP office or by emailing [email protected].
Show Synopsis:
In this hilarious Christmas classic, a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant are faced with the challenge of casting the Herdman kids—the most inventively awful kids in world history. Adapted from the best-selling young adult book, this play features some favorite Christmas carols, lots of mayhem, and fun for the whole family.
