Ribbon Cutting for Newest Affordable Housing
DAVIDSON, N.C.– Community members are invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Bailey Spring Affordable Housing Community on October 16 at 9:30 a.m. hosted by the Town of Davidson and JCB Urban. The ceremony will take place at 12511 Stonebriar Ridge Drive.
The Bailey Springs neighborhood of 15 homes is located close to the intersections of Concord Road, Davidson-Concord Road, and Robert Walker Drive. JCB Urban is currently building this family-friendly neighborhood next to the new park at Bailey Springs and within walking distance of Bailey Middle School and Hough High School.
Davidson encourages the production of affordable housing by requiring 12.5% of homes in all new developments to be affordable. With inclusionary housing, construction of low-and-moderate income housing is linked to construction of housing in the marketplace by mandating developers to provide the affordable units in an otherwise market-driven development. In doing so, inclusionary housing not only generates units affordable to low-and-moderate income families, but also provides opportunities for racial and economic integration. With inclusionary housing, affordable units are built concurrently with market-rate housing.
