Early Voting

Cornelius Town Hall – 21445 Catawba Ave, Cornelius

Davidson residents can vote early at Cornelius Town Hall (or any other early voting location in Mecklenburg County). On November 6, residents must vote at their designated polling locations. For more information visit the Mecklenburg Board of Elections website.

 

40th Annual North Meck BBQ

October 19 @ 11:00 am – 7:00 pm

11201 Old Statesville Road – Huntersville

In the school’s only major fundraiser, North Mecklenburg High School’s PTA will hold it 40th Annual Barbecue on Friday, October 19, from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The drive-through line can be accessed off Alexandriana Road.

Tickets are $10. Your choices are:

  • A bbq plate (6 ounces of BBQ, 2 buns, chips, and slaw)
  • A chicken plate (1/2 a smoked chicken, chips, slaw)
  • Bulk container (12 oz)
  • They also have a buffet for ten or more people at $80, which is great for a party.
  • T-shirts are also available for $10.

The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market. The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.

Enjoy a self-guided watercraft adventure through Lake Davidson! We will provide you with paddles, life vests, and your choice of a kayak, canoe, or paddle board.  Please meet our staff at the Lake Davidson Nature Preserve (located behind Davidson Day School) and follow the cones. Davidson Film Club: “The Trial of Viviane Ansalem”

Armour Street Theatre – 307 Armour Street

The Davidson Film Club (DFC) screening of the Israeli film, “The Trial of Viviane Ansalem,” (2014) will be held on Saturday, October 20.

Memberships are now open for the five-film series, at a cost of $35. You can mail a check to Davidson Film Club, P.O. Box 32, Davidson, NC 28036. Or you can use PayPay on the DFC website. Walk-ins are welcome at a cost of $9 per film.

The Wildcats host Richmond at Alumni Stadium. All women’s soccer games are free and open to the public.

 

Davidson Lands Conservancy Presents “Bee City” Celebration and Nature Festival

Mark your calendar for this great event! Davidson Lands Conservancy is celebrating Davidson’s recent designation as a “Bee City USA.” We’ve activities for all ages, plus a fun, dynamic speaker, Phyllis Stiles, of Bee City USA. Her talk will begin shortly after 2pm.

  • In case of inclement weather, this event will be located at the Lilly Family Gallery, in the Chambers Building, at Davidson College. (200 D Road; parking on Main Street and Concord Road)

Music at St. Alban’s presents “Chamber Music For All”

Music at St. Alban’s presents “Chamber Music For All,” an ensemble comprising principal players from the Charlotte Symphony. They explore chamber music for two violins and harp at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 21 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson.

  • Arrive early to enjoy the pre-concert young artists’ performance at 2:20 p.m. The main concert will be followed by a “meet the artist” reception. Tickets are available at the door [$20/general admission; $15/seniors; $10/students; children under 12/free. You can also order tickets online.

Bring your family (aged birth to 5) out to enjoy stories, songs, and movement activities that support early literacy skill development and help foster a love of books and reading in your child.  Families, toddlers, preschoolers. Registration opens 30 minutes prior to story time, please check in at the desk.

 

Historic Landmark Process

Davidson Town Hall- 216 South Main Street

Davidson property owners are invited to a meeting on Monday, October 22 at 6:00 p.m. at Davidson Town Hall when they can learn about the historic landmark designation process.  The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Landmarks Commission and the Town of Davidson want to preserve and protect historically significant structures in Davidson and its extra-territorial jurisdiction.
