Unity in Community of Lake Norman Awarded Grant by Foundation of the Carolinas
Unity in Community of Lake Norman was awarded a grant from the Act On Fund sponsored by the Foundation for the Carolinas. In October, Unity in Community, in partnership with the Ada Jenkins Center, North Mecklenburg Communities United, and the Office of Civic Engagement at Davidson College hosted On the Table Charlotte where participants discussed the lasting impacts of segregation on our communities. Unity in Community will use the grant award to help grow its membership and to continue the conversations started at the On the Table event.
Unity in Community was formed in the Fall of 2017 to work toward achieving racial equity in the Lake Norman communities. The group meets quarterly, with small groups meeting more often, for conversation, fellowship, and learning. The next quarterly gathering will be held on Saturday, January 26 at 9:30 a.m. in the gymnasium at the Ada Jenkins Center. The group is excited to welcome new members and encourages anyone who is interested to attend the meeting on January 26 or reach out to one of the group’s leaders, Pam Jones at [email protected] or Sue Rankin-White at [email protected].
