Organ at Davidson Presents English Horn and Baritone soloists in a Lively Concert

Alicia Chapman is professor of oboe at Appalachian State University

Gather ‘round for Organ at Davidson on February 11!  Alicia Chapman and Friends join forces as raconteurs to bring the art and heart of musical reminiscence, rustic song, and legend to life. Jean Sibelius’ Swan of Tuonela; the Songs of Travel by Vaughan Williams; and the Variations on Amazing Grace by Calvin Hampton are featured by Chapman on English horn; Joe Causby, organist and Music Director of Chapel of the Cross; Charlotte based baritone, David Brian Clark; and multi-faceted collaborative pianist, Erin Palmer. The program is Monday, February 11 at Davidson College Presbyterian Church. In this variation of Organ at Davidson, music by Dan Locklair, Manuel de Falla, and Gustav Mahler also grace the program.

All Organ at Davidson events begin at 7:30 p.m. at DCPC on Main Street in Davidson and are open to the public. A meet the artist reception by Friends of the Organ follows the program. Performances are free with donations appreciated to enhance the series.

Alicia Chapman is professor of oboe at Appalachian State University, where she is also director of the Collegium Musicum and coordinator of Woodwind Chamber Music. Chapman performs as a member of the North Carolina Baroque Orchestra and serves as principal oboist with the Asheville Symphony. Chapman has recorded with New York Philomusica, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, and New York Kammermusiker. She has toured internationally as a chamber musician, performing in festivals in Prague, Dresden, and Salzburg. She performed with the Metropolitan Opera, and played for several national tours with the New York City Opera.

Dr. Chapman earned her degrees from the Mannes College of Music and the City University of New York.
