Music at St. Albans Presents Musicians on Banjo and Fiddle

February 17 @ 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm

St. Alban’s Episcopal Church – 301 Caldwell Lane

DavidsonLearns is delighted to once again partner with Music at St Albans. [email protected] has been bringing a wide range of musical programs to Davidson for 14 years! The performance on February 17 promises to be one of their best. Hank, Pattie & the Current will provide a fun-filled afternoon of bluegrass and Americana tunes by this Durham-based ensemble. Hank Smith (banjo) and Pattie Hopkins Kinlaw (Fiddle) have been playing together in various capacities for the last eight years in ensembles that range from bluegrass to jazz to classical. The music they create on and off stage sounds as though it came from one mind. The duo approach improvisation with lightning fast thought and reaction and compose intricate, as well as dulcet melody, vocal harmony, and lockstep rhythm. For Hank and Pattie, music is an endless playground of texture, tone, and space that allows for pure joy in playing and a straightforward maturity one would expect from musicians twice their ages. Prior to their performance, Pattie and Hank will give a pre-concert talk at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary of St Albans church, 301 Caldwell Lane. This opportunity to meet the musicians and learn about their techniques and music is certain to enhance the listening experience. The concert will be followed by a “meet the artist” reception. While the talk is free of charge, you must have a ticket to stay for the concert. Tickets are available at the door or at our website. This project was made possible, in part, with funding from ASC and the N.C. Arts Council.
