Davidson Community Players Holding Open Auditions for “Mamma Mia!”

Davidson Community Players announces open auditions for its June 2019 production of the smash Broadway hit Mamma Mia!, with book by Catherine Johnson, music and lyrics by Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson. The production will be directed by David Townsend, with choreography by Ashlyn Keller-Silver and musical direction by Anne Beach. Featuring great music from the internationally renowned band ABBA, this spirited production offers roles for actors of all ethnicities and experience levels aged 15 and older. The production will run for eight performances from June 20-30 at the Duke Family Performance Hall on the campus of Davidson College. 

Auditions will take place on February 25 and 26 at 7 p.m. at DCP Actor’s Lab, 20700 N. Main St., Ste. 112 in Cornelius. Actors need only to attend one session. Callbacks are planned for the evening of February 28 by invitation only.

All auditionees should prepare 16 bars of a song that shows off their vocal range. Actors should be prepared for cold readings from the script. Audition songs should be memorized. Please bring music in the proper key, an accompanist will be provided. A capella singing is NOT recommended. A dance call will follow the vocal audition, so please dress comfortably and be prepared to move. Auditionees should also bring a recent picture, a list of theatrical experience, and a list of conflicts for the late April-June time frame. Full rehearsals will begin in mid-April.
