Yash Parikh Earns First A10 Weekly Award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Sophomore Yash Parikh gave Davidson its sixth weekly award this year when he won his first career Atlantic 10 Player of the Week honor for men’s tennis in matches played from March 11-17, as announced by the league office today.

Parikh joins Sam Kavarana, Brooks Green and Camden Mazzoni as weekly winners this year for the Wildcats.

Parikh went 3-1 in singles and doubles matches against Elon and George Mason last week. The Tuscon, Ariz., product won his ninth singles match of the season with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Mason’s No. 2, while also teaming with Alexander Loope at No. 3 doubles to win a pair of matches, 6-2 and 6-0. The pair pushed their win streak to four in a row to remain perfect on the season (4-0) as well as in league matches (2-0).

The first-year player has a 9-4 record, with a mark of 8-4 at No. 2 singles. He owns a 3-1 record vs. A-10 foes.

Davidson (11-4, 4-0 A-10) plays a pair of matches this weekend at Richmond and at Radford, March 23 & 24.
