Davidson, NC – The Mobley Crew Block Party will be Saturday, March 30, from 5-9 p.m. at Summit Coffee, 128 S. Main Street, Davidson, NC. Proceeds from the event will go to The MPN Research Foundation, a nonprofit which funds research for new treatments and a cure for a rare form of blood cancer called Polycythemia Vera (PV).  .

Davidson resident Brian Mobley, along with friends and family, are spearheading the block party celebration.  The kid-friendly evening will include food from Carrburritos, beer and wine from Summit Coffee, a lemonade stand for children and live music by Caleb Davis.

PV is caused by a genetic mutation resulting in the overproduction of red blood cells in the body.  A high red blood cell count produces symptoms that make life challenging for people living with PV and increases their risk for other serious complications.

Mobley was diagnosed with PV in October 2016 after experiencing numbness in his legs. Combined, he and his fiancé, Tracey, have four daughters, Kenedie (10); Karsyn (8); Thea, (11); and Samantha (14). 

For Mobley, the block party is a way to include his community of support in helping others battling blood cancers.

“The Mobley Crew Block Party is an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for rare blood cancers like Polycythemia Vera. Since being diagnosed, I have been passionate about wanting to contribute to help with a treatment and cure. All proceeds go to The MPN Foundation. This event is a celebration of friends, family and community. I recognize together we can make a difference,” he says.
