Davidson Community Players, in partnership with the Town of Davidson, announces open auditions for their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. The production is part of a community partnership called Shakespeare on the Green and will be directed by Wrenn Goodrum.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is considered to be one of the most magical of Shakespeare’s plays and will offer roles for actors of all ages and experience level. The performance will run May 16, 17 and 18 outside on the Village Green in downtown Davidson. Rehearsals will begin the week of April 14.

Auditions will be held on April 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. at Armour Street Theatre, 307 Armour St., Davidson. Auditionees should bring a recent picture, a list of theatrical experience and conflicts for April-May. A complete list of available roles can be found on our website. Auditionees are asked to prepare a monologue from one of the choices found on the audition page of our website.

There are parts for 21 actors ages 14 and older, plus children may be considered for additional roles of fairies and dancers. The director will consider non-gender specific casting. All ethnicities are welcome.

Shakespeare on the Green is a partnership between The Town of Davidson and Davidson Community Players. Our mission is to produce Shakespeare in a manner that is open to all members of the Davidson and Lake Norman community.  All performances will be presented free of charge on the Village Green.
