Wildcat Baseball’s Levy Named A-10 Rookie of the Week
Freshman pitcher Gabe Levy has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
The right-hander from Seattle earned two saves last week, taking his season total to eight, which is second in the A-10.
“Great honor and recognition for Gabe,” said Davidson coach Rucker Taylor. “Obviously, for him to get a couple of saves, it means our team won some games as well. Gabe has been outstanding all year. I’m happy he’s getting this recognition.”
Levy pitched a scoreless ninth in the Wildcats’ 12-10 win over N.C. A&T Wednesday, allowing one hit and striking out one. At UMass on Saturday, he entered in the eighth inning of the second game of the doubleheader, with Davidson leading 2-1. He pitched two innings, allowed one hit and struck out three, including the final two batters.
Levy has made 18 appearances this season, including four starts, and has a team-best 2.79 ERA. He has held opponents to a .219 average and struck out 42 in 42 innings.
“He’s got a great temperament and has performed well in high-leverage situations all year,” said Taylor. “We have a lot of confidence in him.”
Levy is the second Wildcats pitcher to be honored this year. Allen Barry was A-10 Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 18 and A-10 Co-Pitcher of the Week March 18.
