Ready, Set, Weekend in Davidson: May 10 – 13

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

The Griffith Street overpass will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic from 1 – 5 p.m. on Friday as the funeral procession for slain Mooresville Police Officer Jordan Sheldon drives from Charlotte to the Mooresville Police Department. Residents are invited to walk to the overpass and pay their respects as the procession drives passed. The Davidson Fire Department will hang the large American Flag over the northbound lanes of I-77.

The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is back this week. DFM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market. The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.

 

Lake Norman Bike Expo

Lake Norman Bike Expo & Community Ride Join the Town of Davidson and the Town of Cornelius to celebrate Bike Month with a Bike Expo, Family Bicycle Ride and a Community Bicycle Ride. Whether you’re a new or seasoned cyclist, the Bike Expo will have something for everyone. The Expo will provide attendees an opportunity to demo bikes from area bike shops, learn about bicycle safety and maintenance, and experience unique bikes such as folding bicycles, electric assist bikes, and more. Davidson Parks and Recreation will have their solar-electric ELF bike to demo (made in Durham, NC) and the Town of Cornelius will have information on new greenways and how to safely navigate around town our your bike. Community Bike Ride starts at 9:00 am, a 10 mile ride (age 14+ with adult), and the Family Bike Ride will leave at 10:30am. Registration for the 9:00am Community Ride will take place onsite beginning at 8:30am. Registration is not required for the Bike Expo. If you’d like to register that would help with planning and for email updates. Registration for the 10:30am Family Bike Ride will take place onsite.
