MURRELLS INLET, S.C. – One the most decorated golfers in the history of Davidson College, senior Jack Lang (79-70-68 = 217 | +1) capped his standout career with a 68 in the final round of the 2019 NCAA Regional at TPC Myrtle Beach on Wednesday.

After opening with a 79, Lang played his final two rounds in 6-under par to climb 39 spots up the individual leaderboard and finish T-27th out of 75 competitors.

Ranked 77th Nationally according to GolfStat, Lang started the day with five straight pars before recording birdies on his next three holes to make the turn in 3-under 33.

On the back nine, the 2019 Atlantic 10 Player of the Year bogeyed the 10th hole, but responded with birdies on 11, 12 and 14. Despite giving shots back at 16 and the Par 3 17th, Lang birdied the final hole of his collegiate career to post his 22nd round of par or better this season.

In addition to leading Davidson to its first-ever Regional berth a year ago, Lang competed as a sophomore after capturing the 2017 Atlantic 10 individual title.

Lang joins Richard Fountain (2010-14) and Mike Spann (1967-69) as the only Wildcats to participate in three NCAA Tournaments.

A three-time all-conference performer, Lang led the Atlantic 10 with a 71.08 stroke average.

Last month, Lang was presented the 2019 Tommy Peters Award, which is given to a senior male scholar-athlete in recognition of outstanding dedication and contribution to intercollegiate athletics.

The recipient of three athletic scholarships: Dr. Tom Scott Golf Scholarship, Covington Golf Scholarship, and Southwood J. Morcott Golf Scholarship, Lang holds the school record for career Top-5 finishes with 13.

Ranked 23rd nationally, Illinois (-25) claimed the regional title by five shots over No. 46 Ohio State (-20). No. 3 Wake Forest (-15), No. 10 California (-14) and No. 34 UNLV (-8) will also advance to the NCAA Championship by virtue of their Top-5 finishes, while Edwin Yi (-14) of Oregon claimed the individual spot.

Team and individual medalist titles will be decided May 24-29 at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The University of Arkansas is the host institution for the 2019 championships.
