Main Street Books is excited to bring KonMari certified consultant Shannon Huneycutt to the bookstore for a start-of-summer workshop. Huneycutt will walk participants through the tidying steps detailed in The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, offering valuable strategies and springboards for workshop participants to begin the process of introducing tidiness into their homes.

The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is back this week. DFM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market, a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture, and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at the Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.

Main Street Books is kicking off the start of summer with a celebratory day of free programming. Welcome the warmer months with the following activities:

  • 10 a.m.- Sensory Stories with Rikki – Join storyteller Rikki for a summer-themed craft and story
  • 10:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Shark Teeth 101 – Join Ashley Oliphant, author of Shark Tooth Hunting on the Carolina Coast, for a shark tooth display (10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.) and shark presentation (11 a.m.). Oliphant is an expert on how to find and identify fossil shark teeth from the coast of the Carolinas!
  • 1 p.m. – Queen Girls Release Party
  • 5 p.m. – Teen Trivia with Young Adult Author Leigh Statham – Test your knowledge of YA dystopian lit in teams of up to five people (bring your friends or make new ones)! Hosted by Leigh Statham, author of Imani Unraveled and Daughter 4254
  • 6:30 p.m. – Free Screening of The Fault in Our Stars

 Concert Details

  • Concerts on the Green take place the first and third Sundays in April through September.
  • Concert hours are 6:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Concerts take place on the town green in downtown Davidson at the corner of Main Street and Concord Road, on the Davidson Public Library stage.
  • All concerts are free, family-oriented, and open to all ages.
  • All concerts are “rain or shine.”
  • Food and beverages are available for purchase. In addition, attendees also have a choice of some wonderful Davidson restaurants from which to get take-out, or visit before or after the concert.
  • Coolers and picnics are welcome.

Tents – 10’ x 10’ tents are welcome, but must be set up on the perimeter of the event area. We ask that you are respectful of this rule, so you do not block the view of other attendees. Please keep your tents within the 10’ x 10’ size. 

Parking – Free public parking is available all around the event site; however, please pay attention to signs indicating where parking is prohibited. Handicapped event parking is available on Main Street, Concord Road, and in the Davidson Public Library parking lot along Lorimer Road.

Davidson Village Inn Pedicab – Catch a ride on the Davidson Village Inn pedicab! Look for the bright green pedicab and take an enjoyable ride through beautiful, historic downtown Davidson.

Family Reading Time (two sessions)

June 3 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am & 11:00 am – 12 pm

Bring your family (ages birth to 5) out to enjoy stories, songs, and movement activities that support early literacy skill development and help foster a love of books and reading in your child.

 

Rotary Club of Davidson

June 3 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

The Rotary Club of Davidson meets on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Mondays of each month (excluding federal holidays).  Noon – 1:00 pm at North Harbor Club Restaurant. Meetings last about an hour. Visitors welcome!
