The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is back this week. DFM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market. The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.

Nicholas Harvey was born and raised in England before immigrating to America in the late eighties. Writing is a second calling alongside a successful career in professional motorsports in both Europe and the States. He and his wife Cheryl live in North Carolina and have been certified divers since 2001, Nick is trained as a PADI Divemaster. They have been regularly travelling to and diving in the Caymans since 2001 and their love of the islands is evident in Nick’s debut action-adventure book, Twelve Mile Bank. Join Nicholas Harvey at Main Street Books, where he’ll be signing copies of Twelve Mile Bank.

Main Street Hooks

Main Street Hooks is a free and open book and knitting club brought to readers by Main Street Books in partnership with Davidson’s forthcoming craft store Hearts on Fiber that meets at the bookstore monthly for an hour of communal knitting and audiobook enjoyment. Hearts on Fiber staff are available at every meeting to guide beginner knitters/crocheters, while intermediate to advanced fiber crafters continue their own projects in the cozy company of fellow yarn enthusiasts and book nerds. Bookseller and knitting extraordinaire Jan Blodgett is also on site to assist with advanced knitting snafus. Hearts on Fiber also offers an on-site pop-up shop during Main Street Hooks meetings to meet the supply needs of club members.

 

Concert on the Green – Band of OZ – POSTPONED UNTIL NEXT SUNDAY 6/16

Town Green

 The Band of Oz was formed in 1967 as a part-time band playing fraternity parties and high school proms all over the South. In 1977 the band went on the road full time. Since that time the band has made an exceptional name for itself throughout the Southeast by playing the top clubs and corporate parties, and getting excellent reviews along the way. For several years the group has been a guest on most of the major beach concerts in the Carolinas, Virginia, and Georgia. The Band of Oz is one of the most successful groups in the Southeast, and continues to get the very best reviews from the top people in the entertainment business. The band now features a full horn section to total a dynamic eight-member group. They still perform well over two-hundred shows per year for corporate events, festivals, concerts, wedding receptions, and many other public and private events.

Concert Details

  • Concerts on the Green take place the first and third Sundays in April through September.
  • Concert hours are 6:00-8:00 p.m.
  • Concerts take place on the town green in downtown Davidson at the corner of Main Street and Concord Road, on the Davidson Public Library stage.
  • All concerts are free, family-oriented, and open to all ages.
  • All concerts are “rain or shine.”
  • Food and beverages are available for purchase. In addition, attendees also have a choice of some wonderful Davidson restaurants from which to get take-out, or visit before or after the concert.
  • Coolers and picnics are welcome.

Rotary Club of Davidson

The Rotary Club of Davidson meets on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Mondays of each month (excluding federal holidays).  Noon – 1:00 pm at North Harbor Club Restaurant. Meetings last about an hour. Visitors welcome!
