Music@St. Albans Announces its 2019-2020 Season
Music @ St. Alban’s Concert Series 2019-2020
Concerts are at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson, NC at 3:00p.m. Come early for our young artist performances at 2:20. Tickets are available at the door or at www.musicatstalbansdavidson.org. This project was made possible, in part, with funding from ASC and the N.C. Arts Council. Wheelchair accessible. Music @ St. Alban’s is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
September 22, 2019: The Four Horsemen, a quartet of trombones [soprano, alto, tenor & bass] led by Tom Burge and comprised of Charlotte Symphony Orchestra members will perform classical music spanning the 17th-21st centuries.
October 20, 2019: Bach Akademie Charlotte Choir led by Scott Allen Jarrett will present a program featuring Schütz’s ground-breaking Musikalische Exequien – the first “German Requiem” composed in 1636. The program also features Bach’s double-choir motet Komm, Jesu, Komm and other motets from the Bach family.
November 24, 2019: Henry Lebedinsky (piano) and Reggie Mobley (countertenor voice) will perform a unique program featuring the music of black composers. This concert will be held at the Gethsemane Baptist Church, 565 Jetton St., Davidson
January 19, 2020: Poisoned Dwarf will perform Celtic music featuring Irish flute, whistle, guitar, Scottish small-pipes, banjo, and a variety of percussion instruments.
February 23, 2020: Kevin Jones, cellist will perform Sonatas for cello and pianist with pianist Topher Ruggiero.
March 22, 2020: Chamber Music 4 All, an instrumental ensemble led by Calin Lupanu, Concertmaster of the Charlotte Symphony, will perform a program of favorite classical chamber music.
April 19, 2020: Timeline Jazz- a Williamsburg Virginia based versatile jazz trio will perform favorite jazz standards including latin, brazillian, funk, rock, and original compositions. Timeline Jazz features: JR Erb, bass; Lance Pedigo, drums; Harris Simon, piano & Atiba Taylor, sax and vocals.
May 17, 2020: Alchymy Ensemble will present “Secret Music 1580/ Music for the Three Ladies of Ferrara.” Sopranos Margaret Carpenter Haigh, Mary Ruth Lown and Sarah Coffman and an ensemble of baroque instruments [cello, viol, organ and theorbo] will perform this virtuosic music of the 16th century.
