House Moving Literally Happening Early Sunday Morning
While most of Davidson sleeps at midnight Saturday/Sunday, Simmons Moving Company will be on Delburg Street beginning to physically move one of a few original mill houses in the neighborhood. The two bedroom/one bath house will be transported —with a State Patrol escort—about a mile to the corner of Grey Road and Dogwood Lane, where foundations have already been poured to receive it.
The home is owned by John Marshall Custom Homes, with Rodney Graham handling the project. Graham said the home is currently 1,000 square feet, but will grow by about 100 feet in the renovation process, which will include construction of a second bathroom. Graham said the home will be put up for sale when renovation is complete about three months from now.
