Town Announces Main Street Business Grant for Local Historic District and Ad Grant for All Davidson Businesses

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Town of Davidson is pleased to announce two grant opportunities for our local businesses: the Davidson Main Street Business Grant and the Merchant Ad Grant.

Davidson Main Street Business Grant

The Town of Davidson offers the Davidson Main Street Business Grant for the sixth year. The Davidson Board of Commissioners approved $15,000 to fund this grant program for FY2019- 2020. The goals of the program are to provide direct financial benefit to small businesses, retain and create jobs in association with small businesses, and to spur private investment in association with small businesses located in our local historic district. Last year’s grant recipients were the Davidson Wine Co., Moxie Mercantile, and Summit Coffee.

The grant is a reimbursable, matching grant program. The minimum grant that may be requested is $1,000 and the maximum is $10,000. Private funds must be committed on a 2:1 basis, meaning that $2,000 in private funds must be committed to the project in order to qualify for a $1,000 grant. Funds may be used to support the rehabilitation of properties or for new construction. Funds must be used for exterior or interior improvements that are permanent. For example, funds may be used for windows, floors, etc., but not for tables and chairs.

Grant applications are currently being accepted. The first application period will be from now through September. Additional application periods will be on a 90-day rolling basis until all funds are allocated. The Historic Preservation Commission will review all grant applications and select projects to be funded.

All applicants must review the Davidson Main Street Business Grant Operating Guidelines and submit an application. Both documents can be found on the town’s website atwww.townofdavidson.org/MainStreetGrant.

Merchant Ad Grant

The Town of Davidson has approved an amount of $5,000 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2019, as grant funds to subsidize local merchant advertising through the Merchant Ad Grant Program. Local merchants are defined as businesses located within the town limits of the Town of Davidson.

The funds, divided equally in an amount of $1,250 per quarter, will be available beginning July 1, 2019 on a first come, first serve basis. We encourage all businesses to visitwww.townofdavidson.org/merchantadgrant for information on the agreement and reimbursement form.
