Fall Events at Davidson College
As summer draws to a close and the academic year heats up, the college has some upcoming campus events that may be of interest to the community:
This Tuesday evening, September 3, President Carol Quillen will present a talk entitled, “Being Human: Disciplinary Reflections,” at 7 p.m. in Tyler-Tallman Hall in the Sloan Music Center. No tickets are required. More information here:
The following Monday, September 9, Vann Professor of Ethics and Society Bill Kristol, founder of the Weekly Standard and Axios co-founder Mike Allen will preview the upcoming presidential election in a talk entitled “It Only Gets Worse from Here.” Tickets are free but required. On Wednesday, September 25, Jennifer Egan, author of Manhattan Beach and A Visit from the Goon Squad will present this year’s Conarroe Lecture. This event takes place at 8 p.m. in the Duke Family Performance Hall in the Alvarez College Union. Tickets are free but required and are available online or in the Union Box Office. On Thursday, September 26, noted civil rights attorney James Ferguson II will discuss “From Civil Rights to Social Justice – Same Struggle, Different Day?” at 7:30 p.m. in the Lilly Family Gallery, moderated by his former law partner and Davidson Town Council member Jim Fuller ’64.
