Artist Series – Reduced Shakespeare Company

Knobloch Campus Center DFPH-Duke Family Performance Hall

The Reduced Shakespeare Company is a three-man comedy troupe that takes long, serious subjects and reduces them to short, sharp comedies. “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) [revised]” is an irreverent and fast-paced romp of all the Bard’s 37 plays in 97 minutes. This was London’s longest running comedy, having spent nine years in London’s West End. Join these madcap men in tights as they weave their wicked way through all of Shakespeare’s comedies, histories, and tragedies in one wild and memorable ride.

Tickets are free for Davidson Students, $22 for General Public, $17 for Faculty/Staff/Seniors, and $12 for non-Davidson students.

Run for Green

The fourteenth annual Run for Green benefits the Davidson Lands Conservancy. It is a morning of races that support our efforts to protect natural areas, open spaces, and greenways/trails.  This year’s Run for Green will again feature a half-marathon, 10K, and 5K.  We are also excited to bring back the opportunity for you to participate in our event through the virtual half marathon. The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is back this week. DFM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market. The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture, and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.

 

Walk with a Doc

This is the second year of Walk with a Doc. We meet on the Town Green for our walk and talk at 9:00 a.m. and the walk lasts until 10:00 a.m. WWAD is held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month through November. Come out and join us as we Exercise, Educate, and Empower each other, one step at a time.

Davidson College Concert Series: Mozart & Brahms Clarinet Quintets

Presented by 89.9 WDAV, the Davidson College Concert Series season opens with the Mozart and Brahms clarinet quintets, considered two of the most admired and iconic chamber music pieces in the repertoire. Featuring Charlotte Symphony Orchestra clarinetist Sam Sparrow, this program will also include CSO colleagues Joseph Meyer, Jenny Topilow, Sarah Markle, and Kirsten Swanson. Organ at Davidson Season Opener

Davidson College Presbyterian Church – Corner of Main Street & Concord Road

Dr. Andrew Scanlon, organ professor at East Carolina University, will open the season of Organ at Davidson on Monday, September 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Davidson College Presbyterian Church. The program includes music by J.S. Bach, Jehan Alain, Henry Smart and…Billy Strayhorn. The concert is free, with donations accepted, and is followed by a reception.
