A terrifying game of cat and mouse takes place in the Greenwich Village apartment of Sam Hendrix and his blind wife, Susy. Desperate to regain a mysterious doll stuffed with illegal drugs, con man Harry Roat Jr., with the help of two criminal sidekicks and clever disguises, spin a tale to fool the unsuspecting Susy. When the doll cannot be found, the situation spins out of control as all wait until dark to play out the classic chilling conclusion. Ages 12 and up.

The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is back this week. DFM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market. The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.
Community Members Invited to Beaty Park Celebration

Community members are invited to the Beaty Park Celebration and volunteer workday on Saturday, October 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 832 Beaty Street (near the corner of Main Street and Beaty Street). The Davidson Lands Conservancy, with grant funding from the Town of Davidson, is coordinating the removal of invasive plants at the park. Volunteer efforts are needed for this event to remove invasive species and brush on the surrounding trails.
Moving Stories with Camerin

Based on Brain Dance research, Moving Stories with Camerin is a story time incorporating guided movement for kids aged 6 months to 6 years old. This workshop combines dance, music, and stories to engage small movers and their caregivers in age appropriate mobility skill development. Movement is focused on Brain Dance techniques (Anne Green Gilbert) encouraging movement patterns that re-enforce the mind- body connection and contribute to brain development. Each class focuses on a book and uses the story as a catalyst for movement development and exploration. Care-givers are expected to interact one-on-one with their child, offering an exciting experience for student and care-giver alike. Moving Stories is sponsored by CANNON SCHOOL, an independent JrK-12 college preparatory school.

She offers sound principles for readers to “get in the swing” to untwist their own lives in her book Incident, Not Accident. Certified by Loyola Marymount University, Suzan Strader is a spiritual director and a life coach. As a teacher of contemporary spirituality, she has a passion for being a resource to those seeking a deeper perspective on life to become all they are meant to be. Suzan’s passion drives her work in authenticity, intention, compassion, and acceptance for all people. She and her husband currently reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. Incident, Not Accident: Untwisting Our Spiritual Story is Suzan’s literary debut.

Join us for a conversation between Rev. Katey Zeh and Professor of Religious Studies Anne Wills about Zeh’s book WOMEN RISE UP: Sacred Stories of Resistance for Today’s Revolution.
Rev. Katey Zeh is a strategist, author, and speaker who works with nonprofits and faith communities on organizing for social change. She is the interim Executive Director of the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. A highly sought thought leader and speaker, Katey has presented on faith and activism at conferences and universities across the United States. The Center for American Progress named her one of their top justice-seeking faith leaders to watch. She has written for many outlets including the Huffington Post, Sojourners, and Religion Dispatches, and her advocacy work has been featured in the Washington Post, The Nation, Colorlines, and Feministing. She is the co-host of the Kindreds podcast and the author of a Women Rise Up: Sacred Stories of Resistance for Today’s Revolution (FAR Press, May 2019), a timely take on the tenacious women of the bible.

Davidson College’s Connor Eating House invites the public to participate in its first annual 5 kilometer “Think Pink!” run/walk to raise money for Earlier – Friends for an Earlier Breast Cancer Detection Test. This charity’s sole mission is funding research to find an early breast cancer detection test. The run begins on Sunday, October 6, at 10:30 a.m. on the Davidson Village Green. Free parking will be available on Concord Road in the Baker Sports Center lot. Complimentary race snacks and beverages will be available, and all registrants will receive a t-shirt. Book Folding Workshop

Natasha Marcus is a Freshman Senator in the NC General Assembly, District 41 in Mecklenburg County. She is a graduate of Duke University School of Law and has been a community leader in North Carolina for 30 years. After earning her law degree, Sen. Marcus practiced law at Brooks, Pierce, McLendon, Humphrey, and Leonard, LLP and clerked for a federal judge in Greensboro. She moved to Davidson in 2007.
Race, Housing and Inequality – An evening with Pam Kelley

Join Pam Kelley, a former Charlotte Observer reporter, as she discusses her recent book, Money Rock: A Family’s Story of Cocaine, Race, and Ambition in the New South, the story of a former Charlotte cocaine dealer and his family. Pam will also take questions about local inequality issues, including gentrification in the town of Davidson, Charlotte’s affordable housing crisis and a historic black neighborhood in Cornelius that is fighting to survive.
