Dr. Devine is a family medicine physician who is a graduate of the world renowned 2-year fellowship at the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine.

A terrifying game of cat and mouse takes place in the Greenwich Village apartment of Sam Hendrix and his blind wife, Susy. Desperate to regain a mysterious doll stuffed with illegal drugs, con man Harry Roat Jr., with the help of two criminal sidekicks and clever disguises, spin a tale to fool the unsuspecting Susy. When the doll cannot be found, the situation spins out of control as all wait until dark to play out the classic chilling conclusion. Ages 12 and up.

The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is back this week. DFM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market. The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.

 

Walk with a Doc

Town Green

This is the second year of Walk with a Doc. We meet on the Town Green for our walk and talk at 9:00 a.m. and the walk lasts until 10:00 a.m. WWAD is held on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month through November. Join us this Saturday 10/12 on the Davidson Village Green From 9-10 am for Walk With A Doc as we Educate, Exercise, and Empower each other one step at a time. This Saturday we have a new partner Dr. Lloyd Runser from the Lakeside Family Physicians Family Medicine Residency Program. Come out and enjoy the fall weather and then get your coffee and walk around the Farmers Market.

Main Street Hooks

Main Street Hooks is a free and open book and knitting club brought to readers by Main Street Books in partnership with Davidson’s craft store Hearts on Fiber that meets monthly for an hour of communal knitting and audiobook enjoyment. This month, Main Street Hooks will meet at Main Street Books. Hearts on Fiber staff are available at every meeting to guide beginner knitters/crocheters, while intermediate to advanced fiber crafters continue their own projects in the cozy company of fellow yarn enthusiasts and book nerds. Bookseller and knitting extraordinaire Jan Blodgett is also on site to assist with advanced knitting snafus. Hearts on Fiber also offers an on-site pop-up shop during Main Street Hooks meetings to meet the supply needs of club members.

 

Jewish Council of Lake Norman Presents “The Ruach”

Join the Jewish Council of Lake Norman for a Sukkot Celebration. Pizza per slice will be available starting at 5:30 p.m. The Rabbi will lead a service beginning at 6:00 p.m., and there will be a free performance by the Ruach Band beginning at 6:30 p.m.

 

Davidson Community Players Auditions for “Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol”

Davidson Community Players announces open auditions for its annual holiday show, Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol by Tom Mula.  The play features the timeless characters from Charles Dickens famous novel but viewed from a different perspective. Auditions will take place on Sunday, October 13 and Monday, October 14 at 7:00 pm at the Actors Lab, 20700 North Main Street, Ste. 112 in Cornelius. Actors need only attend one audition session. DCP is seeking four actors capable of playing multiple roles, switching effortlessly in and out of multiple characters, in a “Story Theatre” style.  A familiarity with Story Theatre performance styles is a plus.

NC Baroque Orchestra Chamber Players Presented by Organ at Davidson

Oct. 14 @ 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm

DCPC Sanctuary – Corner of Main St. and Concord Road

Organ at Davidson presents North Carolina Baroque Orchestra Chamber Players, performing music of Heinrich Biber for two violins, cello and organ. The program is on October 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Davidson College Presbyterian Church sanctuary (100 N. Main St.).  Events are free with donations encouraged.  A reception follows.
