William and Mary Outpaces Wildcat Field Hockey

The Wildcats battled William and Mary in a rain soaked match up.

 

DAVIDSON — William & Mary scored twice in the first 6:02 and went on to hand the Davidson field hockey team a 5-0 defeat on a rainy Sunday afternoon at Belk Turf Field.

The non-conference loss drops Davidson to 2-12 on the season, as the Tribe improved to 7-5.

William & Mary held a 12-1 advantage on penalty corners and a 12-0 margin on shots on goal. Nellie Turnage and Julia Smith were the only Wildcats to fire shots Sunday.

Goalkeeper Sarah Zeszotarski kept the Wildcats in it with seven saves, but the Tribe added three goals in the third quarter to extend their lead.

Woodard Hooper and Cailtin Maclean each had a goal and an assist to lead the Tribe.

Davidson will play its next two at home, beginning with a game against Saint Louis on Friday, Oct. 18 at 5:30 p.m. Wake Forest visits next Sunday at 1 p.m.
