Hough Singers Selected for Honors Chorus

Congratulations to Hough High School Seniors, Sophia and Julia Leeman on being accepted into the 2019 North Carolina Music Educators Association High School Honors Chorus. More than 1,000 singers across the state audition every year. Sophia and Julia were among 181 chosen to participate at the North Carolina Music Educators Association Fall Conference in Winston-Salem the weekend of November 8-10 under the direction of guest conductor, Dr. Daniel Bara from the University of Georgia. The NCMEA Honors Chorus is an opportunity for outstanding singers from high school choral music programs to perform at the highest level of achievement with other students from across North Carolina.

Sophia and Julia are the daughters of Michelle and Curt Leeman of Davidson. This is Sophia’s fourth year and Julia’s third year participating in NCMEA Honors Chorus and their fourth year as members of the Hough High School Choral Program, which is directed by Heidi Hickox- Gordon. Julia and Sophia will be graduating in 2020.
