Dear Readers,

This Saturday, November 2, Dr. Anna Choa Pai will be sharing her memoir From Manchurian Princess to the American Dream: An Anecdotal Memoir of Two Immigrant LivesWhile most immigrants to the United States seek better lives than what they had, author Anna Chao Pai’s parents came seeking safety from the Japanese; they left a life of luxury and power to become ordinary American citizens. In the end, the transition to ordinary was traumatic for Pai’s mother, who became mentally unbalanced. In From Manchurian Princess to the American Dream, Pai shares her story which is as much about her mother as it is about her.

Sunday we host the wonderful Gavin Edwards, who will be discussing his new book, Kindness and Wonder: why Mister Rogers matters now more than ever. This event is also the kick-off of our Coat Drive- a donation conjointly organized by Gavin and Davidson-K8 whose staff provides coats and jackets to children in need, so please bring any winterwear you would like to pass on!

As always, we love to share books, community events, and general literary merriment. Follow us on FacebookTwitter, and Instagram.

Happy reading,
Adah
