Unity in Community
The local social justice group, “Unity in Community,” held an open public meeting on Saturday November 16.
More than 50 interested community members attended for an update on the group’s activities, one of which was its success in receiving a 501c4 designation from the state. The highlight of the meeting was a lecture by Davidson College Richardson Professor of Sociology Gerardo Marti titled “Race and the Failure of Reconstruction: Expanding the Privilege of Whiteness in America.”
