Ready, Set, Weekend in Davidson: Nov. 22 – 25

Footloose the Musical

Charles Mack Center – Mooresville

Community School of Davidson and Mooresville Community Children’s Theatre have forged a unique collaboration that will bring the hit musical FOOTLOOSE, based on the iconic movie of the same name, to venues in both Davidson and Mooresville this November. The production, directed by Melissa Ohlman-Roberge with choreography by Emily Hunter, will run at Community School of Davidson’s ArtSpace Theater November 13-16. The troupe will then pack up the sets, costumes, and props and take them to the Joe V. Knox auditorium at Mooresville’s Charles Mack Citizen Center for performances November 21-24. Over 30 students from as far south as Charlotte and as far north as Statesville have been hard at work since mid-September. Performances will feature a live band led by John Smith. Tickets for both legs of the run are available online: www.csdspartans.seatyourself.biz  for Davidson and www.mooresvillechildrenstheatre.seatyourself.biz  for Mooresville. Remaining seats will be sold at the door. The production contains mild language and is appropriate for grades 6+.

The Davidson Farmer’s Market, Inc. (DFM) is back this week. DFM is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization based in Davidson, North Carolina. This is the 10th year of the Davidson Farmers’ Market. The Davidson Farmer’s Market is a producer-only, year-round Market featuring more than 35 farmers and local producers from within a 100-mile radius. The Market is a lively gathering place for meeting friends and for learning about food, agriculture and nutrition. Growers and producers are on hand to answer your questions, from “How was this grown?” to questions about how to prepare and preserve all types of foods. We are located next to the Davidson Town Hall between Main & Jackson Streets. Parking is available on Main Street, Town Hall Lot, Police Department Lot, and at Davidson Presbyterian Church lot at the corner of Depot & Jackson Streets.

Start your weekend by heading out to Richardson Stadium as the Wildcats host Drake. This is Senior Day, and the final home game of the 2019 season.

Henry Lebedinsky (piano) and Reggie Mobley (countertenor voice) will perform a unique program featuring the music of black composers. This concert will be held at the Gethsemane Baptist Church, 565 Jetton St. This project was made possible, in part, with funding from ASC and the N.C. Arts Council. Wheelchair accessible. Music @ St. Alban’s is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

Bring your family (ages birth to 5) out to enjoy stories, songs, and movement activities that support early literacy skill development and help foster a love of books and reading in your child. Registration opens 30 minutes prior to storytime at 9.30 a.m. Please check in at the desk.
