The Journey

I began a journey some years ago.
I started off scared so I started off slow.
And every time I turned my head
to see just how far I’d gone,
I grew stronger for the climb;
And then I journeyed on.

I found people and places I’d never known.
Became something more. Oh, how I’ve grown.
And I learned that grass is not always greener
In someone else’s lawn. And not everything is bad.
And then, I journeyed on.

I learned freedom is mostly a state of mind
And people with sight can really be blind.
The early bird may get the worm
but the dawn still turns to dark.
So, I decided to sleep ‘til noon.
And then, I journeyed on.

I made some friends and they made me.
I found my comfort in company
Of people who refused to judge
or say just what I wanted to hear.
So I became a better person.
And then, I journeyed on.

I met a savior and I found peace.
Self worth increased and I felt complete.
Then I laughed at what I’d been.
And I wept at what I’d been.
But, I pulled myself together.
And then, I journeyed on.

She spends her days painting anything not nailed down (and some things that are), chauffeuring one daughter to sporting events, having tea parties with the other, and writing a blog.  She's also married to a rather large Irishman and has a pub in her house. Really.
