Wildcat Wrestling Falls to Chattanooga in Home Opener
DAVIDSON, N.C. – Davidson wrestling fell to Southern Conference foe Chattanooga Friday evening at Belk Arena, 47-0.
With the loss, Davidson falls to 0-3 in dual matches and 0-2 in conference clashes, while with the win Chattanooga improves to 2-3 and picked up their first SoCon victory.
The two best chances for the ‘Cats came at 133 and 141 pounds. Sophomore Kyle Gorant battled back from a pair of first period takedowns to trail just 4-3 after two frames, but the Mocs Wade Cummings third period escape sealed the decision victory for the visitor.
In his first home meet, David Loniewski used a third period takedown to knot the bout at five, but Aidan Murphy’s escape proved the difference in a tightly contested tilt, 6-5.
Davidson returns to the mats Friday, Dec. 6 at the Patriot Duals against host George Mason and fellow visitors, Long Island University. The first bout from Fairfax, Va., is slated for 12 p.m.
