2020: Gratitude, Resolutions, and Hope
News of Davidson rings out 2019 with gratitude for your support of our work to capture this remarkable and growing community. Although News of Davidson fell short of our annual fundraising goal of $5,000, we are gratified by the generosity of our patrons, including a few gifts that truly dropped our jaws. (Thank you!)
Our micro-news site saw a 27 percent increase in subscribers, a steady stream of reader interest, and hundreds of stories, announcements, calendar entries, and updates posted throughout the last 12 months.
We will begin 2020 also grateful to our news writers and photographers. We love our columnists, who make us think and laugh and sometimes move us to tears. And we thank you, for ideas, information, and tips about community news and events. Please keep it up!
It’s been a full year. Topping our list of most read posts was the story reporting results of the Town elections. In September, we added Meet the Need, a feature to promote support for local nonprofit agencies. We established our photo gallery, where you can browse images captured by NoD photographers — and download your favorites for free.
Lord willing and the creek don’t rise, our small team resolves to continue serving Davidson and the Lake Norman region throughout the coming year. Like you, we have specific goals and wishes for 2020. Ours are bound by a deep hope for kindness and tolerance within our community and across the nation and globe.
Happy New Year! See you right here — everyday.
