ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the first time since 2011, Davidson placed 60 or more Wildcats on the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll, announced by the league Monday.

The ‘Cats earned 60 honorees for just the fourth time in the 19-year history of the league. The mark to beat remains 64 which was reached twice, the last time reached by the 2011 team.

Davidson’s 60 recipients tied Stetson for fourth most overall. Dayton earned the top spot for the fifth consecutive season, landing 85 student-athletes, while Drake (69) and Butler (63) rounded out the top three institutions. In all, 580 PFL players were named to the honor roll, up 37 from 2018.

The PFL athletic director and coaches established the honor roll as a way to recognize the league’s outstanding student-athletes. The academic honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in football at member institutions during the fall semester and posted a 3.0 grade point average or higher during the semester while enrolled full-time in accordance with NCAA rules.
