Davidson Housing Coalition’s Souper Bowl – Feb. 29
Calling all Souper Bowl fans! Save the date for the most popular culinary cook-off around Lake Norman – it’s the 16thannual Davidson Housing Coalition “Souper Bowl” to be held on Saturday, February 29th. Area restaurants will be serving delicious soup creations to attendees from 11 AM to 1:30 PM in the Lilly Family Gallery of Chambers Building on the Davidson College Campus. We’re excited to announce that Mestizo Contemporary Mexican, Famous Toastery, The Prickly Pear, Flatiron Kitchen + Taphouse, Davidson Ice House, Carrburritos, and The Pickled Peach will be competing in Souper Bowl XVI. Cannolis for dessert will be generously provided by Ferrucci’s Gourmet Deli.
Follow along on our Facebook page as we share this year’s soup line-up.
Based on their soup samplings, attendees will be invited to vote for their favorites in several categories – Best Chunky, Best Creamy, Best Farm to Spoon, Best Vegetarian and Most Creative. All soups are also eligible for the Best Overall title. Award winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event. Additionally, attendees can bid for unique works by local artists in a silent auction, and listen to musical performances by several area musicians.
Tickets are now available for sale on our website. Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $10 for students (12+) and $5 for children (<12). For those who cannot attend the event, but would like to make support our HAMMERS program, please visit www.davidsonhousing.org/donate.
All proceeds will benefit our HAMMERS program (Hands Around Mecklenburg/Mooresville Making Emergency Repairs Safely). HAMMERS is a collaborative effort of Davidson Housing Coalition and Davidson College to reduce the immediate threats to life, health and safety in homes owned and occupied by lower wealth residents of Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson. Established in 2005, HAMMERS has completed repairs on more than 150 homes.
