Dear Readers,

Main Street Books will be closing its store to the public from Monday, March 16th – Sunday, March 29th. The time is now to flatten the curve of COVID-19 disease spread, even though we may not be seeing the afflicted in our own community, yet.

As many of you can attest, books save lives. They will likely carry many of us through this period of isolation by offering an escape, satiating our curiosity, and keeping us connected to humanity. We don’t want our space to do anything but serve our community’s health, so here’s how we’re adjusting our services so that you can continue to purchase books:

Beginning March 16th, we are providing:

  • Curbside pick-up for phone or email orders. Call the store when you’ve arrived at the curb and we will bring your purchase to you.
  • Free local delivery to Davidson, NC addresses.
  • USPS shipping at media mail rates.

We’ll be sharing copious reading recommendations and boredom busters here in our newsletter, on our Instagram page & website, and in our personal conversations with you by email or phone.

Our operating hours will be 11:00 am – 5:00 pm. You won’t be able to come in and browse, but we’ll be answering phones and packing orders for you.

We can make gift certificates in any amount and mail them or hold them for designated customers to use for purchases now or later.

Book clubs, story times, and author events scheduled during our two-week floor closure are cancelled. Stay tuned for some potential virtual offerings!

We have a great audiobook listening service called Libro.fm. Right now, you can get 2 books for the price of 1 when you create a new membership, and Libro.fm is sending all proceeds to the bookstore where you signed up – that’s us! Follow this link!

Please know that we will see this thing through to the other side.
We’re grateful to be a part of a community that is rich with compassionate, intelligent, and curious readers.

Best,
Adah
