by | Mar 16, 2020 | Davidson Housing Coalition, News, Top Right Box

As the situation evolves with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), Town of Davidson staff continue to actively work on preparation plans under the umbrella of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management. The best, local information for updates can be found on the Mecklenburg County Public Health website here. The County Public Health office is updating information frequently based upon the current situation in Mecklenburg County and guidance from state and federal public health officials.

Based upon recommendations from Mecklenburg County Public Health limiting gatherings to no more than 50 people, the town is taking the following actions:

  • Town Parks & Recreation programming and Civics 101 class will be suspended until further notice.
  • Staff who can work remotely are being encouraged to do so.
  • First responders remain ready and prepared to serve the public, following all recommended procedures and protocols.

The following town events will be canceled and rescheduled for later dates when possible:

Board of Commissioners and Advisory Boards
Livability Board Meeting – March 17 at 7pm at Davidson Town Hall
Design Review Board Meeting – March 18 at 6:30pm at Davidson Town Hall
Board of Commissioners Meeting – March 24 at 6pm at Davidson Town Hall
Board of Commissioners Q&A – March 26 at 6:30pm at The Linden

Davidson Connections – April 2 at 9 am at Homewood Suites

Town staff will closely monitor the situation and will communicate details of any further event cancellations as soon as information becomes available. For the next several weeks, please check the Town of Davidson website at www.townofdavidson.org before attending a town-sponsored event to make sure it is still occurring.

The Town of Davidson encourages residents to continue to utilize the town’s parks and greenways; community members can enjoy the outdoors and still maintain “social distancing.”

Parks and Recreation program participants will receive a prorated household credit to their account for any unused portion of programming that has been canceled for the current session.

With the cancellation of two 251 South Street Input Sessions, the committee invites community members to visit www.townofdavidson.org/Vision251 to take an online survey and provide input. The committee will seek opportunities to provide further in-person input when possible moving forward.

Residents are encouraged to follow advice from public health officials and medical professionals. This includes the recommendation to call ahead to any healthcare provider before visiting if you have symptoms of COVID-19 in order to help limit the spread of the virus.  The latest local news and advice from Mecklenburg County Public Health may be found here or by calling the county’s COVID-19 information line at 980-314-9400.
